Concrete Scanning

Helping clients protect structural reinforcement of infrastructure by locating rebar and post tension cables in concrete with Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is what EXARO does.

How it works

  • GPR unit transmits microwave signals into the surface that rebound to the GPR antenna
  • During the scan and when an object of different material and density is crossed, the microwave signal rebounds at a different speed resulting in an image displayed on a screen indicating rebar, post tension cable or other
  • The GPR processor takes the information and displays it real time on a monitor screen
  • Accuracy is highly dependent on high end equipment and operator training that which we commit to

Benefits of GPR over X-Ray

Capabilities Concrete GPR X-Ray
Depth Up to 20” Up to 36”
Area of Coverage per shot No limitation 18”x18”
Productivity 3-5 times that of X-Ray Requires X-Ray processing
Environmental No Radiation Radiation Hazard
Accessibility Streets, floors, columns etc. Front and back required
Deliverable Results Immediate visual Film must be processed
Cost Reasonable Expensive
