Concrete Scanning
Helping clients protect structural reinforcement of infrastructure by locating rebar and post tension cables in concrete with Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is what EXARO does. How it works
- GPR unit transmits microwave signals into the surface that rebound to the GPR antenna
- During the scan and when an object of different material and density is crossed, the microwave signal rebounds at a different speed resulting in an image displayed on a screen indicating rebar, post tension cable or other
- The GPR processor takes the information and displays it real time on a monitor screen
- Accuracy is highly dependent on high end equipment and operator training that which we commit to
Benefits of GPR over X-Ray
Capabilities | Concrete GPR | X-Ray |
---|---|---|
Depth | Up to 20” | Up to 36” |
Area of Coverage per shot | No limitation | 18”x18” |
Productivity | 3-5 times that of X-Ray | Requires X-Ray processing |
Environmental | No Radiation | Radiation Hazard |
Accessibility | Streets, floors, columns etc. | Front and back required |
Deliverable Results | Immediate visual | Film must be processed |
Cost | Reasonable | Expensive |
